We are currently looking for a SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team in Anaheim, CA. Job Responsibilities: Plan and coordinate the administration of computerized databases, including relational databases, to ensure accurate, appropriate, and effective use of data, including database definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, and operational guidelines. Perform quality control audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper usage of data in tables and various support tools, such as database dictionaries. Review database design and integration of systems, including client / servers, mainframes, etc., and make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Additionally, the DBA may establish and maintain security and integrity controls. Provide appropriate consulting, interfacing, and standards relating to database management, and monitor transaction activity and utilization. Prepare and/or review activity, progress, and performance reports. Diagnose, resolve and implement preventive measures to prevent problems for applications and system software. Optimize performance. Ensure maintenance of physical integrity of all production databases. System Administration Responsibilities: Perform Windows upgrades as well as upgrades to the McKesson Pathways Materials Management (PMM) system. Maintain and distribute PMM Hardware Environment mapping. Prepare hardware requisition when lifespan approaching. Maintain 3 PMM environments: Production, Test (identical version to LIVE), and upgrade (next release). These each include SQL servers, Translator servers, Cognos/BI servers, Citrix servers and Auto Processing, EDI and FAX. Define hardware specs: O/S, CPU RAM, Disk space including SAN. Setup and Monitor scheduled tasks to automate PMM processes. Ensure appropriate backups in place and understand process for recovery. Plan for/coordinate special backups as needed before any hardware or software upgrades. Receive alerts when system experiences problems. Design DTS package for thick client / Citrix servers on upgrade projects. Daily application support - on call rotations. Database Administration Responsibilities: Review Daily scheduled jobs - check for problems - contact McKesson and notify PMM Team when problems. Follow through to resolution. Review Daily Backup status of all PMM Environments. Install MS SQL 2000 with appropriate service pack Determine proper RAID to endure fault tolerance Setup / monitor second SQL box as PMM reporting server to offload production contention and to improve performance. Administer PMM database (understand current size and provide growth projections). Manage database regular backups (full db and transaction logs, restorations of BAK to test SQLS. Manage / monitor over 20 production SQL jobs, receive alerts when job fails. Perform data analysis and data extractions for auditing, data cleansing, and/or financial analysis. Code stored procedures, triggers as required. Using SQL Query Analyzer to run McKesson scripts as needed. Install / upgrade / configure PMM associated software.
